Hey everyone, Achilles Tendinopathy can impact athletes and non-athletes.
Poor footwear, conditions such as flat feet or high arches, repetitive stress, and inadequate warm-up or stretching can cause these painful conditions.
Recent research published in Foot and Ankle International Study 2021 reveals the role of Shockwave Therapy in reducing pain and improving function for patients with Achilles tendinopathy.
The study showed that the Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy group had more improvement than compared to the sham groups.
The pain score decreases by 87.5% in the shockwave group and by only 12.5% in the sham group, also known as the placebo group. The shockwave group continued to have significantly better outcomes than compared to the placebo group or sham group at 16 months.
Based on the findings of this research, the authors strongly recommend adding shockwave to the treatment plan for patients with non-insertional Achilles Tendinopathy. Call us now. Thank you.
