Should I Get the HyProCure Treatment for Flat Feet?
Your feet play an important role in your body’s support, posture, balance, and overall well-being. The arches of your feet are an integral part of this process. By gently flexing with each step, your arches support your body’s weight and protect both your feet and lower body from injury. Essentially, the arches of your feet act as shock absorbers. And even more than that, your arches help propel your body forward more efficiently with every step you take.
While arches are an essential part of your foot’s structure, there’s a chance that they can break down and become flat as time goes on. This can lead to foot pain, fatigue, bodily discomfort, and more severe injuries.
Fortunately, we have a solution. The HyProCure treatment is a scientifically proven solution to treating flat feet. Keep reading to find out how this simple treatment can improve your quality of life.
What Is HyProCure?
HyProCure is a minimally invasive treatment meant to amend the misalignment in feet caused by a lack of arch. The flat feet solution consists of EOTTS (Extra-Osseous TaloTarsal Stabilization), which corrects the misalignment between the heel and ankle bones. This conservative surgical procedure is safe, simple, and effective.
What are the Benefits of the Treatment?
HyProCure provides a permanent solution that addresses the actual cause of your flat feet. Backed by an extensive amount of published studies, there is scientific evidence supporting the effectiveness and benefits of HyProCure.
So what kind of benefits can you enjoy with HyProCure? Here are a few scientifically proven benefits:
- Decreases strain on the plantar fascia and posterior tibial tendon.
- Decreases joint forces on the heel.
- Decreases pressure on the nerves at the bottom of the foot.
- Improves side-to-side and up & down foot motion.
- Has the lowest removal rate of any sinus tarsi implant.
- Prevents the collapse of the arch.
- Redistributes forces to the bottom of the foot.
Each of these benefits can help decrease pain, strain, discomfort, and other symptoms associated with flat feet, as well as increase mobility and overall quality of life.
What Should I Expect During the HyProCure Treatment?
The HyProCure treatment process is simple and effective. The minimally invasive surgery consists of a localized anesthetic, a small incision, proper positioning of the ankle, and an implanted stent. During the surgery, a small titanium stent is placed into a naturally occurring space between the ankle bone and heel bone through a small incision below the outer ankle bone. After surgery, the incision is stitched up.
What Should I Expect After the Procedure?
After surgery, our goal is to get you back on your feet and feeling your best as quickly as possible. The total recovery time after treatment takes about 6-8 weeks. A majority of recipients are on their feet walking in just half that time. And just one week after the procedure you’ll be able to wear regular shoes.
As far as post-procedure pain goes, you likely won’t experience too much discomfort, if any at all. If you do experience any discomfort or swelling after the procedure, an anti-inflammatory may be prescribed. You may also have a scar where the incision was made, but that will fade over time.
Once you’re fully recovered, you’ll have no limitations as far as physical activity goes. You’ll likely find that you have significant improvement in running, jumping, and any activity involving propulsion from the foot. Before you know it you’ll be on your feet and moving better than before!
HyProCure FAQ
If you still have any lingering questions regarding treatment, here are a few questions commonly asked by our patients.
Is the Surgery Safe?
Absolutely. HyProCure has been FDA approved since 2004. In addition to that, it has also been proven effective for 95% of people who receive the treatment.
Will I Feel the Implant in My Foot?
As long as the stent doesn’t become displaced, you shouldn’t be able to feel it in your foot. If you do feel something in the surgical area after the procedure, this is scar tissue and it will go away in just a few months.
How Soon After the Procedure Can I Return to Sports, Running or Jogging?
In a minimum of 4 to 6 weeks, your implanted HyProCure will be fully anchored within the sinus tarsi. This means that after 6 weeks, it’s unlikely that the stent will be displaced. So running or jogging should not be attempted until 6 weeks after the procedure, but once that 6 weeks is up you should have no issue running or jogging. Though the final clearance ultimately comes from our doctor.
Will a HyProCure Stent Set Off a Metal Detector?
No–the stent is made from titanium and won’t set off metal detectors.
